Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.98 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. browse 2. try to open nested bookmark or access history or other nested Chrome menu item in the drawer 3. 2nd window shows as completely transparent. Interestingly enough, 3rd and subsequent menus (if present) are displayed just fine (you have to move your mouse over "blind" area to trigger 3rd or 4th menu window) What is the expected behavior? just to work. that's all. What went wrong? 2nd window shows as completely transparent. Interestingly enough, 3rd and subsequent menus (if present) are displayed just fine (you have to move your mouse over "blind" area to trigger 3rd or 4th menu window) Did this work before? Yes 70.x something (before official update to v71.x) Chrome version: 71.0.3578.98 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: It happens occasionally 1-2-3 times per day, no way to tell why. Maybe some extension causes this, but I haven't changed them for a while now. It is strange that only 2nd window is affected by this error.

Another screenshot example, this time from drawer (previous was from Bookmarks bar). In the drawer menu it happens to the 3rd window in case of Bookmarks. Coincidentally, it just happened while I was reading this issue. :)

Thanks for filing the issue! Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 71.0.3578.98 using Windows 10 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched Chrome 2. Created few sample nested Bookmarks 3. Hovered/clicked over them to open bookmarks in it. We didn't observe any abnormalities in the UI. Attaching the screen shot of the same for reference. @Reporter: Could you please check the same in a new profile without any apps & extensions and let us know if the issue still persists. Any further inputs from your end may be helpful.

I will try reinstalling Chrome from scratch, it went so many update cycles and probably something went wrong in between. Thanks

Well, reinstalling Chrome (+ selecting option to keep my data) didn't help. Just happened again. It happens completely random, you can browser for half an hour without any problem, and then happens once without any warning signs. It may happen when you try to access context menu with right-click or as above. Of course, good news is that I have to re-click whatever menu I was trying to access and it will paint properly next time. It never happened before, so not sure what I did on my system that affects Chrome like this. I recently restored my PC from a Acronis backup, so it is pretty stable in that regard, but it is just weird. Next I will try to clean user profile and start from scratch, but I will have to postpone it until I have time, that is time consuming thing a bit, I have lots of passwords, around 10 extensions, bookmarks...

... and no, do not use sync feature, obviously.

From comment#7 it is clear that the issue seems to be very random/inconsistent hence removing Needs-Bisect label and requesting someone from respective team to have a look into it for further inputs. Thanks! |
