Thanks for filing the issue! Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chromium version 71.0.3578.0 using Ubuntu 14.04. We were able to launch chromium through terminal using command "chromium-browser". NOTE: Tentatively adding component "Platform>Apps>Shell", please remove/change if this isn't apt. @Reporter: Could you please let us know if this is specific to "GNU Midnight Commander". Any further inputs from your end may be helpful to triage this further in a better way.

Thanks, I checked.. you're right that it works if you launch mc w/ "/usr/bin/mc". Since my mc has a custom skin, I must launch it w/ "x-terminal-emulator -e bash -ic mc" and then it behaves as I described (at least on my Xubuntu Core 18.04). Also, w/ "bash -ic mc" I get the same error. On my system (equipped only w/ sh, bash, rbash, dash and mc) I'm getting the error only w/ mc
