CrOS FR: Ability to adjust microphone sensitivity in Chrome OS

Project Member Reported by leonelsalazar@google.com, Jan 18 (4 days ago)

Issue description

Summary: The customer is looking for an option in Chrome OS to adjust the microphone sensitivity.

Use case / Motivation:The customer has said "To accommodate our call center environment, we would like the ability to adjust microphone sensitivity similar to how the user can adjust output source and volume, both in settings and ideally from quick menu as well. Because our devices are managed, they are not permitted to enter developer mode to use experimental features."

Existing workarounds: The customer has tried the WebRTC noise cancellation feature, which did not improve noise cancellation issues. There's no workaround for this.

Chrome devices used: HP Chromebox, HP Chromebook 13 G1, Google Pixelbook
Chrome OS version(s): 71.0.3578.94 and higher
Peripherals: Plantronics C725 USB headset, Sennheiser and Jabra wireless

Case#: 18081723
