||
Issue descriptionApp Version (from "Chrome Settings > About Chrome"): M73 iOS Version: All Device: All Steps to reproduce: 1.) Sign In 2.) Go to "Settings" -> "Privacy" -> "Clear Browsing Data" 3.) Check "Cookies, Site Data" and "Cashed Images and Files" 4.) Read info description in the bottom of the screen Observed behavior: Descriptions says: "This clears synched data from all your devices" Expected behavior: This description is not correct. If the user has iPhone and iPad and clears browsing data on iPhone, then caches and cookie will remain untouched on iPad.

The short answer here is: When this footer was added, it had to clarify four different points about the data deletion, and there wasn't much space for each. The words here were chosen carefully: "synced data", i.e. those that you have chosen to sync in the sync settings, will be deleted on all devices. You can't choose to sync cookies and cache, hence the statement will never apply to them. The longer answer is: In the meantime, we have improved this on Desktop and Android. Each datatype now has a secondary text which clarifies whether that particular datatype is being synced right now. huanzhong@ is currently working on bringing that to iOS as well. |
