PDF export with emojis on macOS, size and view problem

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_2) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.98 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://emojipedia.org/food-drink/ Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open any site with emoji in macOS, ex: https://emojipedia.org/food-drink/ 2. Print -> Save as Pdf What is the expected behavior? to get a pdf that is the same as print preview and reasonable file size, see attached image What went wrong? The file size is 13 times bigger than what is produced by safari & firefox (79Mb vs 6mb). The emoji's cannot be displayed in macOS preview (this can be a problem of mac preview also) or windows default viewer. Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? Yes PDF Did this work before? Yes chrome 70 Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 71.0.3578.98 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.14.2 Flash Version: Chrome 70 did not have any problem like this, all started with chrome 71 No extra font for emoji is installed, macOS Mojave 10.14.2

Bisected to https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+log/b27efd1e..9c970fc7 so I'm suspecting this is due to something within r595565. On Linux, the print preview takes an extremely long amount of time to show. I haven't had the patience to wait it out.

Can you please see if the view problem is fixed in 72 and 73? I think this is https://bugs.skia.org/8629 .

I tried 73.0.3673.0 Canary and the output is still 72 MB. |
