Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 11151.59.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.94 Safari/537.36 Platform: 11151.59.0 (Official Build) stable-channel kefka Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. insert usb drive, then hit eject. 2. sometimes file manager drops usb drive on it's own volition. say chromebook wakes up from sleep - and usb drive not there 3. now one is forced to unplug and reinsert drive What is the expected behavior? would like to hit button, or keystroke, or at least have file manager look for usb drive each time it is opened What went wrong? this feature not installed Did this work before? No Chrome version: 71.0.3578.94 Channel: stable OS Version: 11151.59.0 Flash Version: 32.0.0.101 /opt/google/chrome/pepper/libpepflashplayer.so i submitted this request on a couple of forums, one of which returned the following reply: Platinum Product Expert Tickmc Ah, I see. Hi Mike, I'm not sure if I've understood the steps to reproduce. Every time after hitting eject in step 1, the USB drive is removed from FilesApp and you must unplug and reinsert it for it to show up again. This is by design. If I don't press eject, but put the device to sleep by closing the lid, I am always seeing the USB show up very quickly when I open the lid and wake the device. If the USB is being removed without pressing eject when the device sleeps, please file feedback with alt+shift+i which will send logs for us to look into and make a note of this bug. I'm going to mark this bug right now as 'WontFix' since I can't reproduce it. But feel free to set it back to 'Unconfirmed' if you find a way to always replicate it, or if you get the issue again and file feedback immediately after.

Okay. If that's the way you want it. For myself, I'm going to look for a replacement for file manager. There are other basic features that should be included with the default file manager. I can appreciate that you want to keep the interface simple, but doesn't it seem a little ridiculous that you can't even see the size of a file or folder on a program called a file manager? In Windows, you right click on a folder, choose properties, and up comes the amount of space used by the files in that folder. I didn't care for Windows Explorer and used another file manager, but it at least had the most basic elements included. By the way, I've never had an issue with Windows and recognizing or losing the usb drive icon. So I know it's technically possible - so I suppose I'll have to wait until you guys get enough complaints to truly address the issue of the basic functionality of your file manager. I'm truly surprised that this hasn't (yet) been a bigger issue for you. I can't imagine a more important user feature than an operating system's file manager, and forcing a user to find and Download a file manager just to see a file size and not lose usb drives (without hitting eject) is simply unfathomable to me. Am I missing something? Good luck. On Tue, Jan 8, 2019, 4:16 PM joelhoc… via monorail < monorail+v2.1040730742@chromium.org wrote: |
