Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 11151.59.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.94 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to a site that uses lots of memory (e.g. G+, Facebook, GMail) 2. Open a link in new tabs in the background multiple times as fast as you can, by Ctrl-clicking it like 10 times. What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? Some of the tabs will have a "about:blank" URL instead of the correct URL. Issue 181193 reported the same problem, but has been marked as fixed in 2016. So maybe the bug reappeared. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 71.0.3578.94 Channel: n/a OS Version: 11151.59.0 Flash Version:

I'm not sure this has any relationship to discarding, and I'm unable to reproduce with the given instructions. Can you look at chrome://discards and see if any tabs have a greater-than-zero value of "Discard Count"? Or if any are currently discarded by looking at the lifecycle state?

Nearly all my tabs are discarded at the moment, as I have a lot of extensions installed that use up a lot of memory. The steps I gave mostly don't trigger the bug if at all. Here's a more reliable way to trigger this issue: 1. Run the attached extensio. What is does is as long as it runs is, everytime a new tab is created, it immediately runs "chrome.tabs.discard(tab)" on it to get it discarded. 2. Open new tabs, e.g. by clicking on links. In my tests, the tabs all end up having "about:blank" as their URLs. This happens both on my Chromebook and Windows PC.

Issue 338735 is another similar issue that has been marked as fixed a long time ago. |
