Chrome open VisualStudio Code when selecting 'Show in folder'

Reported by wintersi...@gmail.com, Jan 3

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/71.0.3578.80 Chrome/71.0.3578.80 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Download any file from Internet
2. Select 'Show in folder'

What is the expected behavior?
As I have a Thunar file manager it should be opened.

What went wrong?
Visual Studio Code program starts instead of a file manager.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 71.0.3578.80 Channel: n/a
OS Version: Linux Mint Tara
Flash Version:

I've already asked for a work around on StackOverflow

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53933288/prevent-opening-visual-studio-code-when-click-show-in-folder-in-chrome

and also opened a ticket on Visual Studio's github page

https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/65885

It seems to be a problem for Chrome-based browsers Chromium/GoogleChrome/Opera.

In short, I have Thunar file manager and it's been set as default wherever possible.
All other programs open folders in Thunar, Firefox among them, but I can't get it to work with Chromium.

Tried testing the issue on reported chromium version #71.0.3578.0 using Ubuntu 17.10 by following below steps.

Steps:
=====
1.Launched chromium.
2.Downloaded a sample pdf file.
3.Clicked on "Show in folder".
4.Observed that it opened in the file manager which was set as default.

@reporter: Could you please review the above steps we followed and let us know if anything is missed from our end. Requesting you to confirm if the issue is specific to Linux Mint Tara so that it would be really helpful in further triaging of the issue.
Thanks.!
Well, I tried on XFCE(Linux Mint Tara Xfce) and it works indeed. But I do not use XFCE Per se. I use i3vm window manager where just start some XFCE services

# A piece of i3vm config file
exec --no-startup-id xfce4-power-manager &
exec --no-startup-id xfsettingsd --sm-client-disable --replace &
exec --no-startup-id xfce4-notifyd &

So, I think I have some unusuall(not common at least) setup and not sure if you can help me. But I expect it to work. I doubt it's i3vm's problem.
Thanks, anyway for your time.
