Accept-Language header includes languages NOT in Settings - Language |
|||
Issue descriptionAbout a month ago(?), I began to be served pages in Arabic UI by web sites (for which I don't have an account: such as facebook) or Google search in incognito window (i.e. not logged in). I triple-checked my settings (Settings - Languages) to make sure that it does not have any flavor of Arabic listed. It has only English and Korean. Just in case, on macOS, I also checked the OS language preference. It does not have any Arabic listed, either. It happens across OS (Linux, Chrome OS, macOS). Today, I looked into HTTP request headers and found that Accept-Language header field has the following: ug-CN,ug;q=0.9,ar-EG;q=0.8,ar;q=0.7,en-US;q=0.6,en;q=0.5,ko-KR;q=0.4,ko;q=0.3 A long while ago (> 6 months ago), I played with Settings - Language to add Uyghur and Arabic, but removed them almost right away (IIRC). Anyway, I have no idea where Accept-language header got ug-CN, ug, ar-EG and ar (that are not in Settings - Language list any more).

Could it be there are lingering values in the Preferences file that are not getting shown by the UI? Try searching the Preferences file for accept_languages to see if they show up there?

I couldn't find anything in Preferences file. Is there any other file to look into? It happens on Android, too. Some web sites (I'd not name that famous company ) are rather poorly made and even after I explicitly include 'en-us' in the path to get English page, clicking on a link gets me back to Arabic page. So, whatever preference entry it may be, it seems to have been sync'd across devices. Anyway, whatever it is has to be modifiable per Settings - Languages.

Accept-Language http header value should come from intl.accept_languages preference, which is in turn controlled by (afaik) Settings-langauges.

On Linux, I found 'accept-languages' set to the value in comment 0. The question is why the value does not change per Settings - Languages. |
