Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Enable "WebXR Device API" and "WebXR Hit Test" in chrome://flags 2. Visit https://immersive-web.github.io/webxr-samples/proposals/phone-ar-hit-test.html 3. Tap "Start AR" What is the expected behavior? AR mode should start with live camera view in background What went wrong? AR mode does not start. Tapping "Start AR" multiple times will show a frame of the camera but the view will not continue to update. Did this work before? Yes Probably 3-4 version of Canary ago. Still works in Chrome Dev Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 73.0.3657.0 Channel: canary OS Version: 8 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 32.0 r0 Tested with a Samsung Galaxy S8

The WebXR situation is currently unfortunate. The spec is undergoing compatibility-breaking changes, Chrome is being updated to try to catch up to the spec, and the WebXR samples are lagging behind. At this point it's unfortunately expected that the WebXR samples may not work on very recent browser versions, they need to be updated to match recent API changes, and previously Brandon had also been maintaining a compatibility shim JS library to ensure they keep working on Chrome Stable or other browsers that haven't caught up to the new API changes yet. I'll take a look to see if there's something we can do here in the short term, but this will be a rough patch until the API settles down and the corresponding browser changes make it to stable versions.

Thanks. Good to know that it's just a change in API that broke it, as opposed to an actual bug/regression. |
