Issue descriptionChrome Version: 73.0.3644.0/ 11498.0.0 dev-channel Falco,Samus and Swanky OS: Chrome What steps will reproduce the problem? (1)Sign in to user -> press 'Ctrl+F5(Overview Mode Button)' for screenshot(more than 3) -> go to Files App 2)Now click on Search icon 2.Type in search box -> observe 'Clear' option is seen -> now click on it and observe 'Search' field closes unnecessarily (Please refer Video) Expected: Unnecessarily 'Search' field should not get close on clicking 'Clear' option Actual: Instead unnecessarily 'Search' field closes This is Non-Regression Issue seen from M-62

Assigning to Claire to see what the right behavior is here - seems to be fine to me as is, although we could rename "clear" to "cancel".

I agree that we shouldn't close the search bar when clicking on Clear. Only remove text that has been inserted in the field.

Just as an additional note about the behavior I recommended, it is OK to keep the search box opened once user clicked on the clear icon. The search box will close when users click outside of it/interact with a different part of the UI. |
