This is an open spec issue. We shouldn't land a change until we've resolved it in the spec. See https://github.com/w3c/manifest/issues/658

#2 It isn't really a spec issue. The spec is about giving developers a control here. If we're just going to unilaterally stop the prompt from showing when the app is installed, we don't need to change the spec. We can just do it. I think this is a product-level decision which we should run by some folks internally first. I'll follow up.

How about make distinguishable between native apk and webapk? My suggestion is adding intent category like "android.intent.category.WEBAPK_PACKAGE" to both AndroidManifest.xml in webapk and WebApkValidator::resolveInfosForUrlAndOptionalPackage It assumes that there are no same url on all webapks. (might not happen, but only thing again logically failed situation) |
