"About Firefox" menu in firefox-esr crashes/freezes the entire Pixelbook #crostini |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome version: 71.0.3578.98 OS: Chrome Repro steps: 1. Install Crostini 2. Install firefox-esr (sudo apt-get install firefox-esr) 3. Launch firefox-esr (firefox) 4. Click Hamburger menu -> Help -> About Firefox Expected: Firefox's About menu is shown, no crash. I would also expect that nothing inside the container should be able to crash Chrome OS. Actual: Chrome OS freezes/crashes (I'm not sure exactly), but after 15-30 seconds it comes back up with a "Chrome didn't restart correctly banner letting me restore my previously open Chrome tabs. Previously reported (I didn't see any previous bugs for this though): - Internal: https://groups.google.com/a/google.com/forum/#!msg/performance-feedback-reports/8RAgMjj4Xtw/93v5IrWKBAAJ (contains a listnr report link) - External: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crostini/comments/9pb6bp/firefoxesr_crashing/

Can confirm on a Pixelbook, Stable Channel, Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) Although it's not just the About Firefox page that results in a hard freeze. Extensions that similarly would "popup" an informational window of some kind (for example, to adjust settings or provide options, i.e. a password manager) also freeze the entire system. For me, after that all I can do is hard reset. It's also not limited to Firefox ESR. Firefox installed via Flatpak, or via just extracting the tar of stable/nightly also exhibit the same issue.

I'm able to reproduce this issue on a stable channel pixelbook, which is running 71.0.3578.98, but it seems to have been fixed on beta (72.0.3626.49). Closing this bug, feel free to reopen if you see this issue on a later version.
