PIPELINE_ERROR_DECODE on audio fragments when transit from Ads to main content (unencrypted to encrypted)

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.98 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Unzip the uploaded simple player.
2. run local http server
3. lick run on the top-left corner. Error can be found at Chrome://media-internals

What is the expected behavior?
It should play 16 seconds of audio without any error at the end.

What went wrong?
"audio error during playing, status: PIPELINE_ERROR_DECODE" at 16 second.

The error message is similar to the " issue 913440 ", however I'm not sure if the root cause is the same. We are seeing this issue when audio fragment transit from unencrypted content to encrypted content. Can you look into this issue and confirm whether it is the same root cause?

Hmm, yeah this is a different error. Decryption is not kicking in and thus we end up sending an encrypted packet to the standard FFmpegVideoDecoder which fails with a decoder error.

This turned out to be caused by the test page not calling `setMediaKeys` before appending fragments (i.e. the issue described here: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=827673)

When we call `setMediaKeys` before pushing any fragments, the transition works fine

Thanks for the update, it's never fun to debug EME-related issues that can't be reproduced in Chromium (that is, that are not using ClearKey).

There do seem to be some issues with the chrome://tracing trace viewer that made this more annoying to analyze than usual, I'll file a separate bug for that.
