Description:
My customer is an enterprise rolling out thousands of Chrome devices to multiple locations. To facilitate enrollment they need a progress indicator for OS downloads. This would save time looking for when an update has completed.
Use case:
Customer is enrolling thousands of Chrome devices over time with a third-party providing white glove enrollment services and OS updates. Currently when a device is enrolled and checks for updates the technician isn't sure when to expect the update to complete download and be ready to restart and get shipped out. There is an indicator when the upload is complete, but the tech needs to go to the device and look at the task bar to see. If there was an indicator somewhere of the download progress then the tech could know when to expect it to be done and would save time. Providing a progress indicator on downloads is ubiquitous throughout the industry, is expected in the enterprise and is often built into their SOPs.
Motivation:
Save time during enrollment. Customer is paying for enrollment services and wants to maximize the number of devices that can be enrolled in a give time window.
Existing workarounds:
Manually check back on each device to see when download is complete.
