Do you use a special theme from the web store? Can you attach a screenshot where the problems are to see?

Various custom themes allow you to see background tab shapes. The increase in tab height since pre-refresh did get considered and shortened by a few pixels during development, but the design team didn't feel the overall increase in height to be significant enough to warrant customizability; on net it was a fraction of a percent of overall screen space.
