What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. (from https://mapmeld.com/text-path-problems/ ) - SVG textPath element with complex text

(examples based on issues that we have observed in OpenStreetMap's iD editor)

What is the expected result?

Browser's text-shaping should connect the characters into readable text

What happens instead of that?

Text appears disconnected into individual characters when inside an SVG textPath element
