Description
Native Printing is not working. My printer is Brother HL-2070N. It has worked on and off. One week it is working and another week it isn't. I keep deleting and re-adding this printer. Sometimes that fixes it, but many times it doesn't. Today I have tried many times and it hasn't worked.

My other printer Brother MFC-9340CDW works more often, but I have seen it not working on my other chromebooks. Both printers work reliably from my Mac, so it doesn't seem like anything is wrong with my printers.

Adding more details on this bug:

The printer is usually there. When I try to select it, sometimes I get "error setting up" or something like that. So removing and adding the printer back fixes that. But a more common and unrecoverable error is when the printer seems to work. The chrome notification shows that it is printing, but it never finishes. Sometimes, removing and adding the printer fixes this error too. Both of my printers use static IP addresses. Sometimes they also appear in the "nearby printer list" when adding a printer and sometimes only one of them appears or both don't appear.

Is this your printer? https://support.brother.com/g/b/spec.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2070n_all

I can't tell if it supports IPP at all in which case, I'm surprised it shows up in nearby. Are you setting it up as an 'AppSocket' printer?

I found feedback for this issue. From the logs, it looks like mDNS failure. We're working on improving the reliability of address lookup.

User confirmed that printer works over USB. It's likely a problem at the protocol level.
