bookmarks bar adds wasted padding after icon when the name is blank |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 72.0.3626.14 OS: Linux/CrOS What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Create a bookmark in the bookmarks bar 2. Set the "name" field to nothing 3. Look at the bookmarks bar padding between bookmarks 4. See attached screenshot What is the expected result? There shouldn't be padding around the bookmark What happens instead? There's excessive padding to the right where the name would be This didn't use to happen, but I don't recall when exactly it started.

the "Apps" shortcut (which is the first icon) can be removed by right clicking the bookmarks bar and deselecting "Show apps shortcut". since it's simply a bookmark to chrome://apps/ (which is just a URL like any other), i then created a bookmark pointing to that.

Ahh... okay, that makes sense now to me :) But are you able to reproduce your issue in another Chrome Profile on Linux/CrOS (in latest Canary), since it is working perfectly fine for me on macOS? Thanks.

poking things a bit more, it looks like, somewhere, the name was changed to a space. when i edit the bookmarks and clear the space in the name, the padding is fixed. i filed issue 915367 to deal with duplicate bookmarks being synced, so maybe we can dupe this issue into that one since it looks related.

Many thanks for your investigation. Since padding is okay again, when you clear the "wherever coming from" letter-spacing, I also think we can merge this report into issue 915367. Thanks again :) |
