sync likes to duplicate bookmarks in my bookmarks bar whose "name" is blank |
||
Issue descriptionChrome Version : 72.0.3626.14 OS Version: gLinux/CrOS What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Create some bookmarks in the bookmarks bar 2. Make sure the bookmarks have no text in the "name" field (because the icons are unique, i don't need text wasting space) 3. Wait for other systems to sync or something 4. See duplicates show up (see attached screenshot) What is the expected result? These nameless bookmarks shouldn't get duplicated What happens instead of that? I randomly get duplicates created I have to delete Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. This has happened before, so it's not new to R72. I haven't been able to nail down what exactly causes it ... might be related to me signing into a new Chromebook and syncing my profile. UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/72.0.3626.14 Safari/537.36

hmm, i think the issue is that sometimes Chrome changes the name from being blank to having a single space, and then the sync code duplicates those things ? something is wonky here.

Thanks for your report! Can you estimate for how long are you seeing this problem / how often does it happen to you? Early next year, we want to launch a rewritten implementation of sync for bookmarks - I hope this will fix your issue. We will keep you informed so that you can verify whether the issue is gone.
