Mobile chrome on Android displaying broken text

Issue description

Chrome Version       : 70.0.3538.110
URLs (if applicable) : not applicable
Other browsers tested:
  Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
     Safari: not tested
    Firefox: OK
       Edge: not tested

Chrome Version: (copy from chrome://version) 70.0.3538.110
OS: Android Mobile 5.0.2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open chrome and search for any term in google or access any type of homepage. Please note that the issue occurs a bit sporadical, you might access 5 pages without problems and then you see it again. I haven't spent more than 5 minutes not seeing the issue though.

Seems to only affect certain - maybe older? - phones, hence maybe difficulty to reproduce
Types of phones affected: 
Nexus 6P (found report online, issue occurred in September https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/Yb021aoNADs,) 

HTC One M9 Build (personally confirmed), started 27th or 28th of November, issue persistent today

What is the expected result?
Have full text displayed without missing letters

What happens instead?

This issue looks similar to  issue 883276  or  issue 907559  and is fixed in M-71. Could you please check the issue on M-71 and let us know the behavior.
