[VR Browser / WebVR] Controller doesn't work after exiting to VRB then re-entering WebVR presentation on https://playcanv.as/p/sAsiDvtC/

Device: Pixel 2 XL / any
Headset: Daydream

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) enter VR browsing then go to https://playcanv.as/p/sAsiDvtC/
(2) press VR button to start WebVR presentation.
(3) Press app button on controller to return to VRB
(4) press VR button to re-enter WebVR presentation.
(5) point and click controller button to move around.

What is the expected result? Controller positioning works, and clicks work. 

What happens instead? controller is frozen in space, and clicks don't work.

Note that AFAIK this has always existed, it's not a regression.
