WebGL causes visual glitches on desktop on older NVIDIA based Macs

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.80 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Using any WebGL content causes visual glitches on the whole OS. 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? No glitches What went wrong? Using any WebGL content causes visual glitches on the whole OS ultimately requiring a restart. I think it is tied to my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB iMac from 2013 as we had graphical glitches on NVIDIA chipsets and mac OS X before. However this time it affects the whole system and needs a restart of Mac OS X. I can reproduce it very easily. Did this work before? Please provide about:gpu (copy/paste) from your system. Unfortunately, Apple isn't shipping NVIDIA hardware in their new Macs, and the OpenGL driver has probably regressed. Does Chrome Canary behave any differently?

Also, if you run Chrome from the Terminal with the command line argument: --disable-mac-overlays does it affect the behavior?

Below is my GPU report.
It happens with Canary, will try disabling the overlays but it just happened to me too just using Safari. I think it's an OS related issue and not tied to Chrome (as you said OpenGL drivers regressing.
Guess it's time for a new iMac finally.
