To summarize,
- some users are not happy with the placement of the toolbars
("...made it harder to access other things like bookmarks on the browser")
- unhappy about icon shapes ("And these curves, which are everywhere, are very disturbing")
- There may be a bit of change aversion ("...possible to quickly use the interface,
even without looking where you click")
- There may be complaints about network issues ("...and buffering issues")
I don't see anything specific about slow scrolling though.
Here are the excerpts from the 4 example reports:
Poor UI design and not smooth
The new update has regressed this browser a lot. The tab switcher makes no sense, it was perfect before. The overall moving of the whole control center down is good, but has made it harder to access other things like bookmarks on the browser
the last update is making the browsing so many bug and buffering issues. please make it batter for use.
Usage is getting harder in every version
Very successful congratulations on your policy. Older versions were more useful.
Old design was better.
Previously, all elements were ideally located. It was possible to quickly use the interface, even without looking where you click. The interface was so convenient.
Now everything has gone somewhere around, on the icons at a glance it is hard to understand what the item means. And these curves, which are everywhere, are very disturbing. The browser has become uncomfortable to use. This is the case when earlier it was really better.

Adding Gabe for some PM eyes on the change aversion issues. Not really sure if we should do anything about it, because it seems like they were just initially confused when things move around. Maybe we should just wait to see if these types of complaints die down as people get more used to the new UI? As for the buffering issues, I'm assuming that this is due to the way that fixed-position elements were sometimes jittery during scroll events before we implemented smooth scrolling. Not sore what else there is to do there as well, other than to wait to see if these issues stop getting reported as we ramp up the experiment.

ecabrera@ I'm not sure how the user feedback you linked to supports the bug title of "Slow scroll and buffering issues M71" since most of the feedback is about change aversion to how the buttons changed (presumably feedback about the M69 redesign). While the feedback about the redesign is valid, I would want to hear a lot more of it to consider changing the toolbar and tab grid. I also want to see how the amount of feedback about this changes over time. |
