Manually replacing suggested password leaves the password visible

Issue description

Chrome Version       : 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) (64-bit)
URLs (if applicable) :
OS version               : 10.13.6 (17G2208)
Behavior in Safari (if applicable): N/A
Behavior in Firefox (if applicable): N/A

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open a page with an account registration form (including password)
(2) Focus into the password field to trigger chrome suggesting a password
(3) Click to use the suggested password
(4) Click back into the text field to focus into there (which should reveal the suggested password)
(5) Cmd+A and start typing another password.  You will notice the password is shown revealed as you type.

What is the expected result?
Anything you manually type into a password field should be hidden (unless you hit a reveal password button/icon).

What happens instead?
The password is visible.
