I have no idea. This was reported by Apple HIG during a meeting I was not at. Pink was there, maybe he remembers details.

I can't take a screenshot because screenshots don't have the notch. 

If you sign into Sync from Settings in landscape mode, the "Hi X..." conformation screen with "Undo" and "Got It" buttons has the "Hi" text obscured by the notch. It looks really bad. Also both the buttons on this screen are outside the safe area. 

Note you can't repro this from FRE because those screens don't allow rotation. It has to be done from settings.
