Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/70.0.3538.110 Chrome/70.0.3538.110 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://web.whatsapp.com/ Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Install chromium from ubuntu-cosmic-updates-universe repository (Ubuntu) 2. Launch 3. Open web.whatsapp.com What is the expected behavior? User should be prompted to scan a qr code in order to use whatsapp web What went wrong? The page instead says "WhatsApp works with Google Chrome 36+" claiming that the user has an outdated version of Chrome Does it occur on multiple sites: No Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? Yes Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 70.0.3538.110 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version: 32.0.0.101 I previously used the Snap version of Chromium, in which Whatsapp Web worked fine, however flash was not working on this release,so when I changed to the official Ubuntu release, Whatsapp Web stopped working, now it's not working even on the Snap Release (the one that used to work)

Hi, I forgot to put my os version on the report, my bad, I'm currently on ubuntu 18.10, that's why I installed the version on ubuntu-cosmic-updates-universe(my default software repository), however to my understanding, all version should behave the same if they're compiled off the same source, so installing Chromium from your default repository (I think it's ubuntu-artful-universe) should be enough However something I noted from your screenshot is that you're running Chromium 70.0.3538.0, while I'm on 70.0.3538.110

Retried the issue on reported chromium 70.0.3538.0 (As chromium branch builds not invoked from terminal. Hence tested above build) using Ubuntu 17.10. Steps: ------ 1. Launched chromium 2. Tried with normal chromium and navigated to https://web.whatsapp.com/ >> scanned the QR code As we are able to use whatsapp web. As per comment #3, the issue seems to be related to ubuntu 18.10. Hence adding 'TE-NeedsTriageFromMTV' label and requesting the team to look into the issue and help in further triaging. Thanks..!

Based on the error message "WhatsApp works with Google Chrome 36+", it sounds like it won't work with unbranded Chromium. Please try with Google Chrome and if you still see the issue we can reopen this bug.
