Typed letters disappear from omnibox on long autocomplete.

Chrome Version: 71.0.3578.80
OS: (e.g. Win10, MacOS 10.12, etc...) 10.14.1

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Have a long URL (that would not fit in the omnibox) as your first autocomplete result in omnibox
(2) start typing the URL that will make this URL appear first so that it autompletes in the omnibox (not sure what the specific conditions are).
(3)

What is the expected result?
the string you type should appear in the omnibox

What happens instead?
the string scrolls as you type it. It has the really weird consequence to hide the characters as you type them.
I understand the logic in it, and this may be WAI, but it could be really confusing to the user (it confused me at least).
Attached video on the specific issue. Note as when I type service, it disappears from omnibox at the same time it gets bold in the suggestion.

In cases like this, the omnibox displays all the selected text (the inline autocompletion) starting from the beginning, hiding all characters already typed.

I have a feeling we already talked about this before.
