"Block popups" as a setting only blocks "intrusive" popups which are those without a click. Follow issue 82362 for a solution to popups without a click. However, this site is on our "abusive" warning list, so its popups and ads will be blocked soon if it doesn't stop the harmful experiences. +jud FYI Marking as WAI but please re-open if you are seeing popups that are triggered without a click, which would be a bug.

"Block popups" as a setting only blocks "intrusive" popups which are those without a click ------ Standing from the developer's point of view is understandable But ordinary users can only understand straightforwardly that chrome settings have been broken.

Point taken. Let me merge into issue 82362 then, which we do plan to address at some point. We can probably update the UX on the popup blocker to reflect that it doesn't block all pop-ups. For instance, clicking on any outbound link on gmail / facebook / etc. open "popups" as Chrome defines them. The default setting would break all those sites if they changed to block. |
