Printing to Lexmark Printers from Chrome 71 causes firmware crash

Reported by n...@scotbycycles.co.uk, Dec 5

Issue description

Chrome Version : 71.0.3578.80
OS Version: 10.0
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:

     Safari: N/A
    Firefox: OK
    IE/Edge: OK
    Vivaldi: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Print any page or document from Chrome 71 to a Lexmark MS811de
2.
3.

What is the expected result?

A document should print on the selected printer.

What happens instead of that?

The printer firmware crashes forcing the printer to reboot.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

This seems to affect only Chrome v71, tested on multiple machines (all running Windows 10 x64) and with multiple Lexmark printers (we only use one model so cannot test other models produced by Lexmark) with the same result, a firmware crash (latest firmware from Lexmark installed).

Printing from other browsers, applications and instances of Chrome v70 or earlier on these same machines are unaffected.

Since this is happening on a specific printer that we don't have, would you be willing to help us track down the issue by looking between Chrome 70 and 71 using our bisect tool? https://www.chromium.org/developers/bisect-builds-py

I would also suggest asking Lexmark about this. In theory, printers should just ignore confusing input and not require a reboot.

We currently do not have the specific printer mentioned in comment#0. As mentioned in comment#2, requesting you to help us by providing the required data from the URL provided in C#2. This helps us to triage the issue further in a better way. Hence adding Needs-Feedback label.

Thanks!
