Inconsistent overflow-wrap behavior

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Create div with specific style and text. 2. Create another div same style and text but each letter in span. 3. Check them. What is the expected behavior? Both divs should look the same as span is not contributing to the whole result. What went wrong? divs look different. For specific case I have constructed each span is 4.44 pixel wide so 45 spans should fit as 4.44*45 = 199.8 but only 44 spans are shown in line. BTW zooming or zooming out makes it work sometimes. This works consistent in Firefox. I do not expect this to work the same as in Firefox as Firefox seems to have better kerning support than Chrome/Chromium but at least Firefox is consistent and predictable. Did this work before? Thanks for filing the issue! Able to reproduce the issue on reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3538.110 and on the latest canary 73.0.3631.0 using Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac 10.14.1 As the issue is seen from M60(60.0.3112.0) considering it as Non-Regression and marking it as Untriaged.

This is the intended behavior. Elements align to the device pixel grid for crisp consistent rendering, individual glyphs within an element does not for legibility reasons. |
