Option to disable material design completely

Why cant chrome have an option to have the tabs go back to the normal/better shape so people can discern them better?

The screen space wasting is the main quality of the material design, and it is the opposite of browser design revolution goals was since the first Chrome release.

I don't like the new Chrome UI, especially the look of tabs. They are huge and round, as if they are designed for children. At least give back the option of choosing the old tab design, or add the option of styling them.

Being stubborn with the "WontFix" is counterproductive.
