Google out of memory when inserting video through react and draft-js

Reported by bruineb...@gmail.com, Dec 4

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.110 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
When inserting a video. Google chrome tab runs out of memory and crashes.
To reproduce:

- goto: www.smallteaser.io/login (username: smtchrome, password: smtchrome)
- use the ( + ) icon to the left to add video
- click on the most right icon in de video modal
- click or drag any video (it should return an error, but you can click on "Finish") anyway
- editor will try to load generic video but fails (not the one you tried to upload), editor just kinda hangs, sources panel says 'paused before out-of-memory crash'

Weird thing is that Safari and Firefox will load the video properly.
If i load the video programmatically at load, it works fine even for videos i insert later on.

What is the expected behavior?
It should just work like in other browsers.

What went wrong?
Check detail is reproduction step.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 70.0.3538.110 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.14.1
Flash Version:

- use the ( + ) icon to the left to add video
- click on the most right icon in de video modal
- click or drag any video (it should return an error, but you can click on "Finish") anyway
- editor will try to load generic video but fails (not the one you tried to upload), editor just kinda hangs, sources panel says 'paused before out-of-memory crash'
Hmm, i am still investigating this, might be user (my) error. Will update here.

Hi, thanks for looking at it!

Yeah our backend is working on the webserver as well.
But this should work to get you in the editor at this moment:

Login as “bruinebeer” “2HyDEFrYk8{NZQvJ$uJ”
Navigate to:

The server issue should be resolved by now.
Please refer to original steps to reproduce issue.
By the way, it helps if you use a random file (non video) in the video modals' upload dialog / dragndrop.

This way the video upload logic fails faster (otherwise you might have to wait for an api repsonse, which will return an error, 100% of the time).

It shouldn't matter, because at the moment i always try to insert to same video anyway.
I've added an 'Insert test video' btn in the bottom left corner.

What makes this issue even weirder:
- adding video through the button just works
- when adding video through the button first, adding the video through the modal works as well
- so chrome only breaks when adding a video through the modal only, if there was no video inserted before
Hi guys,

Found the issue to be caused by Sentry.
I've notified them of this.
