Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open https://codepen.io/samatwork/pen/jQRrKG?editors=1100
2. Open the devtool
3. try using the CSS variables as style for background-color

What is the expected behavior?
The styles should be updated and applied to the element

What went wrong?
The CSS variables that use camelCase names do not get applied and their name is appeared as all lowercase in the devtool.
