I don't know why I didn't think to disable all extensions. It looks like an extension had updated automatically at some point last night, and changed the behavior of the middle mouse button. I disabled all extensions, and the behavior is back to normal. I'll re-enable my extensions one by one to see which one is causing the problems. Thanks.

Thanks for filing the issue... Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3538.110 using Windows 10. Attaching screencast for reference. Steps: ------ 1. Launched reported chrome 2. Navigate to google.com 3. Clicked links using Middle Mouse. As we have observed that A new tab is opened with focus still on the current tab. @Reporter: Request you to retry this issue with fresh profile without any extensions & apps or reset all the flags and let us know if issue still persists and verify this on chrome beta 71.0.3578.75, you can download latest chrome builds here:" https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel ". Let us know whether issue still persists. Thanks..!
