The open in Chrome link may trigger the Android app picked for the Intent. If the open in Chrome link is coming from a TWA then it's likely that that TWA will be registered for handling URLs.

Make sure the current client app does not show up in the Open in Chrome app picker (ideally don't show anything other than Chrome there).
