Andy, can you look into this or pass this along to the gerrit team? Apparently issues like this have been bad and frequent enough for devs to the point where they just accept them as facts of life (this bug report being an exception).

We don't have a good way to look into errors exposed in the UI like this. From past experience I think this is just a dialog around a backend issue generically raised by the UI. Filed http://b/120231101 (Googlers only) where the Gerrit backend team looks for bugs.

Nodir, Andrii: users are seeing gerrit display an error dialog sometimes and from a sample log it looks like there is a lot of activity in plugins we own/wrote. Does anything stand out to either of you in comment #3?

The 502 is in a generic call to Gerrit backend. It is not clear who made it, though my guess is Gerrit as own js which checks if new patchelset was uploaded.

Also, I definitely saw simolat things before, and filed bug report, which got promptly fix. Cause at the time was regression in Gerrit backend. I therefore suspect this bug is similar.
In other words, I agree with ajp@ conclusion earlier.

the "cr-buildbucket-client.js:145 Failed to get refresh token; error: undefined" is worrying, but that code is being rewritten https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/infra/gerrit-plugins/buildbucket/+/1356850. Otherwise activity is expected.

jam@ or anyone hitting this bug... Gerrit team is asking for HTTP headers for the failed request to the server that causes this dialog to help debug. If you reproduce this issue again can you please capture those headers and add them (maybe as an attached file) either here or directly to http://b/120231101
