Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.110 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open Chrome windows on multiple Windows 10 virtual desktops. 2. Log out, turn DisplayPort monitor off. 3. Turn DisplayPort monitor on, log back in. What is the expected behavior? Chrome windows remain open on their respective desktops. What went wrong? Chrome windows are shuffled across desktops, i.e. they get moved to random desktops. Did this work before? Yes Not sure, around 69? Chrome version: 70.0.3538.110 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: I am under the impression that this behavior started with the introduction of Chrome's new title bar. I tried to force-enable/disable the Custom-drawn Windows 10 Titlebar flag but that did not fix the problem. It is not clear whether turning off and on the monitor (in case it is connected via DisplayPort) is necessary for this bug to appear, but it could well be as Windows 10 considers a DisplayPort monitor to have been unplugged when it is turned off, causing all sorts of issues.

Thanks for filing the issue! As this seems to be related to Virtual Desktop, which we do not have to test and confirm the issue. Hence routing to Inhouse team and requesting someone to have a look into this and help in further triaging it.

Just to be clear, this is related to Windows 10's *built-in* virtual desktop functionality, not to some third party virtual desktop utility.

Tested the issue on windows 10 using chrome #70.0.3538.110.Observed that chrome window doesn't remain open. Steps followed: 1.Opened chrome on multiple desktops in windows 10 2.Logged out>> Turned of Display-port monitor 3.Turned on Display-port on>> Logged in 4.Observed that all chrome windows in all desktops are closed . Launching chrome in any one desktop resulting all the previously opened chrome windows in different desktops are opened in that single desktop.(Rest desktops are empty) @dictoon: Could you please look into above steps and confirm if anything is missed from our end ? Thanks!

> Observed that chrome window doesn't remain open What do you mean by that exactly? > Observed that all chrome windows in all desktops are closed . Launching chrome in any one desktop resulting all the previously opened chrome windows in different desktops are opened in that single desktop.(Rest desktops are empty) That seems even worse than what I'm observing! Your repro steps are correct. I just test again on a freshly booted up Windows with Chrome 70.0.3538.110 (Official Build) (64-bit). Opened two windows on two different desktops, locked the workstation, turned off then on my DisplayPort monitor, logged in again and both windows were now on the same desktop.

Thanks!

The issue *cannot* be closed. I can confirm once more that this bug happens multiple times a day on this (otherwise perfectly healthy) machine. It doesn't happen to any other application. As far as I can tell, this behavior appeared in Chrome after the redesign of the window title bar. In other words: this is a *regression*.

I'm happy to record a video if you wish so (with my phone since this involves a log out).

I'm sorry but if you're seeing the same behavior (which is clearly incorrect), why would you want to close the issue?

++ correction in c#7: I miss read your comment #5- i read it as you are seeing both windows in both desktops (un-shuffled). I am seeing windows in respective desktops when i just lock the screen, turn off then on the display port and login again.. @dictoon: Please provide us screen-cast for further triaging. Thanks! |
