Pressing space on handwriting doesn't add space

Chrome Version: 72.0.3609.3
OS: (e.g. Win10, MacOS 10.12, etc...)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Write something in handwriting
(2) Press space

What is the expected result?
A space is added

What happens instead?
Only the composition text is committed, no space afterwards.

This is inconsistent with Android, and is inconsistent with tap typing and gesture typing.
