Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.110 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. I think I turned off windows developer mode and then back on. 2. When I try to access the dev tools it is greyed 3. When I go to chrom://extensions I cannot slide the developer mode in the upper right. It says this setting is prevented by my administrator. 4. I am on a personal device and I am the administrator of the account. What is the expected behavior? I should be able to toggle the developer environment on and off. There are numerous posts from searches for this problem and no real good solutions. If the windows setting prevents me from changing it I should be instructed or directed to the windows setting that is affecting the us of the dev Tool What went wrong? I could not use the windows dev tools Did this work before? Yes I don't know Chrome version: 70.0.3538.110 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: I think it's an interaction between a windows 10 setting and chrome... I suspect windows changed where the setting was stored and chrome has not updated looking for the setting correctly... That would be my guess

Thanks for filing the issue! Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3538.110 using Windows 10 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched Chrome 2. Turned ON/OFF developer mode on windows settings 3. Navigated to Chrome://extensions 4. Tried switching ON developer mode top right. We were able to switch/toggle ON/OFF the developer mode without any issues. Meanwhile inspecting the page is opening DevTools. @Reporter: Could you please check the same in a new profile without any apps & extensions and let us know if the issue still persists. Any further inputs from your end may be helpful.

The screenshot is not about Chrome DevTools, but about Windows Developer portal.

I created a new profile. And Deleted all the extensions. Restarted Chrome and the Developer Mode Still Disabled. This did not work: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26997549/google-chrome-this-setting-is-enforced-by-your-administrator Stackoverflow Open Question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53719331/developer-tools-wont-open-in-chrome-this-setting-is-enforced-by-your-administr?r=SearchResults

I finally gave up and reset the computer completely. When I turned on the computer I could not install chrome because the McAfee Antivirus was blocking the install. I also could not activate windows defender. Once I uninstalled McAfee Chrome install was allowed to proceed and I could use the developer tools. I think this setting might be related to some antivirus software restricting the developer mode in Windows. While the conclusion is not a solid logical match, I think there might be reason to believe that the Antivirus Software (on this system it was supposed to be defender , but was McAffe then Kaspersky) might be securing premissions to prevent users from accessing developer mode properly. |
