Issue descriptionChrome Version: 70.0.3538.102 OS Version: Windows NT: 10.0.17134, Windows NT: 6.1.7601 SP1 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Launch Chrome 2. Open Gmail 3. Try to open any other pag 4. The page fails to load. Hey all, We're seeing user reports that once Chrome has opened Gmail, all other websites fail to load. It appears to be happening primarily on Windows. No other obvious patterns that we could spot. Quick update - this was also reported on .77 as well. I filtered out .102 reports and found these from .77: - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85783656186 - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85771019784 - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85768373172 - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85766834661 - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85765494485 I looked as far back as October 21st (earlier than the .77 launch), and it looks like the first report from a user on .77 was on Nov 5th. I used some filters, so it is possible there may be some earlier. Thanks!

Unable to reproduce the issue on chrome reported version# 70.0.3538.102 using Windows-10 with steps mentioned below: 1) Launched chrome reported version and logged-in into gmail with valid credentials 2) In New Tab Page navigated to some other pages(ex: YouTube , Facebook and Wikipedia), pages got loaded successfully without any issues. As this issue is unable to reproduce from ET end, hence routing this to Inhouse to check and update the behavior using CORP account, hence adding TE-NeedsTriageFromHYD label to it. Thanks!

@$5: I'm unable to reproduce this either =\ I did stumble across this over the weekend: https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/7065 The symptoms are very similar, with Gmail mentioned there as well. That bug was marked as fixed today, with a note stating that an update should go out shortly. My thought is to let that roll out, then monitor feedback and see if this drops off.

Hey all, It looks like the extension developers have confirmed this is an issue on their end and have published a workaround: https://help.getadblock.com/support/solutions/articles/6000210609--waiting-for-extension-adblock-when-chrome-appears-to-hang I'm going to leave this bug open on our side for now, and once we see feedback drop I'll close as WontFix.

It looks like the extension developer has further acknowledged the issue and that a fix is coming on their side: https://twitter.com/AdblockPlus/status/1068565693711491072

Thanks for checking! We think it did, but it's a little hard to tell. Bug 913220 is producing similar feedback comments from users, so it's tough to tease out what is related to this issue (which should be fixed - the extension developer pushed an update) and what's related to the other issue. For now, since the extension developer pushed a fix, let's close this one out. Hopefully when bug 913220 is closed out we'll see all feedback that mentions Gmail drop. Thanks! |
