Regression: String for settings text is seen incorrect (i.e. 'सेटिंग') in tabstrip after translating language

Issue descriptionChrome Version: 70.0.3538.110 (Official Build) Revision ca97ba107095b2a88cf04f9135463301e685cbb0-refs/branch-heads/3538@{#1094} (32/64-bit) OS: Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Launch chrome and change browser language to 'Hindi' from chrome://settings/languages. (2) After relaunch, Observe the string 'सेटिंग्स' in tabstrip. Actual Result: String for settings text is seen incorrect (i.e. 'सेटिंग') in tabstrip after translating language. Expected Result: String for settings text should be seen correct (i.e. 'सेटिंग्स') in tabstrip. This is a Regression issue seen from 'M-64' and providing the bisect info below: Good Build: 64.0.3280.0 (Revision: 519959) Bad Build: 64.0.3281.0 (Revision: 520391) You are probably looking for a change made after 520216 (known good), but no later than 520217 (first known bad). Could you confirm the incorrect and the expected translations? Checking in TC, there are no strings that translate "Settings" as "सेटिंग्स" (which is given in the bug as the "expected" translation), but there are 28 strings that translate it as "सेटिंग". Given this, I would assume that "सेटिंग" is the expected translation. Also, do you know which specific string this might be? Since it's so short and generic, it's difficult to pin it down from our end. |
