Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 11151.17.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.27 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. My Chromebook wants me to logout because it can't sync 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? Sync between account data like it used to do the last year What went wrong? I get the message: Chrome can not sync because logindata is out of date Did this work before? Yes sorry, don't know Chrome version: 71.0.3578.27 Channel: beta OS Version: 11151.17.0 Flash Version: I've allready Powerwashed my Chromebook. It just worked fine for some days. Then te problem returned

Sorry to hear that! What happens if you sign-out from your ChromeOS account and sign back in? Do you still get the error message? Is there anything remarkable that you do before the message appears? Adding Services>SignIn as this seems more a SignIn issue.

I don't do anything remarkable. Just workshop on my Chromebook. When I sign-out from my Chromebook and sign back in, I still get the error message. Only thing that's helps is turn of my VPN via the plugin in the browser, log out the Chromebook and log back in. But then I'm not alle to use my VPN. If I turn it backon, the problemen returns. I allready updated to the latest OS version, but the problem keeps existing. It seems I have to downgrade from the Beta to the stable version, but then I have to reinstall many settings :-( Op do 15 nov. 2018 08:16 schreef jkr… via monorail < monorail+v2.3398457508@chromium.org:

Interesting, thanks for more info! This indeed seems like a sign-in issue (removing the Sync component). Sign-in folks, please triage! (also cc'ing msarda@) andretinga@, two more questions: - what is the VPN plugin that you use? - do you think it worked fine on Chrome Beta version 70? (before Oct 25)

I am using the NordVPN Proxy Extension - Privacy & Security. See https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nordvpn-proxy-extension-p/fjoaledfpmneenckfbpdfhkmimnjocfa Things worked fine until recently. I don't know if I then was using Beta version 70 or not, but if I had to take a guess: I think I did. Assigning to Rahul who owns the sign-in code for ChromeOS.

I'm not aware of any recent login changes that would affect how proxy works w.r.t sync, but reassigning to pmarko@ to further triage/investigate since I believe he is more familiar with proxy networks than me. This issue has an owner, a component and a priority, but is still listed as untriaged or unconfirmed. By definition, this bug is triaged. Changing status to "assigned". Please reach out to me if you disagree with how I've done this.

I'm not sure that I'm a good owner here. The log says var/log/ui/ui.20181114-205141:[10216:10216:1114/205203.713264:ERROR:user_session_manager.cc(2159)] OAuth2 token handle fetch failed. -- would that lead to such an error message? Who would be a POC for VPNs?

rkc@ / xiyuan@ / alemate@: Could you please take a look at this bug and explain what "OAuth2 token handle fetch failed" means. It looks like this is triggered from ChromeOS user session manager code https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/chrome/browser/chromeos/login/session/user_session_manager.cc?rcl=13ddc47e527b9c6b3f6fee027de0c1c7ff0d7cc7&l=2231
