German Translation of Emoji Shortcut is not understandable

Reported by scheinto...@googlemail.com, Nov 14

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/72.0.3608.4 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Right-click on a <textarea>
2. The first entry in the right-click menu is "Emojis Win + Zeitraum"

What is the expected behavior?
The first entry in the right-click menu is "Emojis Win + {Some key I know of}"

What went wrong?
"Zeitraum" is the german translation of "time period" and there is no common known key that is called "Zeitraum". The shortcut is not useable.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 72.0.3608.4 Channel: dev
OS Version: 10.0

Thanks for filing the issue!

@Reporter: As we aren't very clear about the Emoji shortcut which isn't understandable, Could you please share a screenshot showing it. This helps us to triage the issue further in a better way.
The word "Zeitraum" is a completely wrong translation of period ('.') in this context. The correct translation would be "Punkt". The mistranslation can also be found in extensions, that use Chrome to display shortcuts and in the browser's extension shortcuts page. Attached is screenshot of the extension shortcuts page with the configured shortcut "Ctrl + Period", that's being translated to "Strg + Zeitraum".

Able to reproduce the issue on reported chrome 72.0.3608.4 and latest chrome 72.0.3616.0 using Windows 10.

Same behavior is seen on M71(71.0.3562.0) hence considering it as non-regression and marking it as Untriaged. Issue seen Windows.

Thanks!
