Thanks for your report - I can't reproduce this locally (I think). Would you mind attaching a screen recording of the problem? You can make them using Quicktime Player.

I did see one odd thing, which is that the focus in the search box is lost when entering fullscreen; assigning to sdy@ for that.
Same here.. Problem 1 is that in fullscreen the google bar does not focus and I cannot open any new URL (CMD+L) does not work as well. But even if (CMD + Shift + F) the bar is enabled again entering text does not work.

Same issue on 69 Chrome on Debian 9.5 and 73 Canary on Win 10. The default new tab isn't fully functional google.com page, it is redirecting output from search box to the address bar. Because it is hidden in full-screen mode - search does not work.
Any news on this? I found this report when searching for fullscreen address bar issues - the symptoms I'm seeing (Chromium 71 on macOS 10.12) are even worse than those shown in #2:
- the Google search box in new tab does not respond at all to mouse clicks, the text cursor doesn't even appear (and the "Search google or type URL" doesn't disappear)
- neither cmd+L nor scrolling up brings up the address bar.

As it is, there's no way for me to enter arbitrary URL or search terms in full screen - a kind of issue I doubt would make it through QA, so maybe this is caused by a setting or flag?
