Asus Chromebit will freeze displaying a URL served from a local web server that shows 2 camera feeds and a video loop

Reported by shanepit...@worldcamlive.com, Nov 8

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.77 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10895.56.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Boot Asus Chromebit running Chrome 69 or later
2. Load URL in browser (test URL can be provided on dev request)
3. Display will freeze within anywhere from 10 minutes to 24+ hours

What is the expected behavior?
Chromebits were displaying the URL's fine for 2 years, then with the 69 update around early September they began freezing.

What went wrong?
Screens freeze.

Did this work before? Yes 68

Chrome version: 69.0.3497.95 Channel: stable
OS Version: 69.0.3497.95
Flash Version: 31.0.0.108

We use Asus Chromebit devices with Matt Cook's Kiosk application to display locally served web pages on monitors. The web pages contain 2 camera feeds, a series of still images, and a video loop. The web pages being displayed are served by a PC running on the same LAN as the Chromebits.

In early-mid September we began having an issue with these displays freezing. The issue began with a Chrome update that also occurred in early-mid September. Prior to the update they worked fine for ~2 years, after the update they began freezing up randomly. We've determined that it's not the Kiosk app, as we can reproduce the same freezing booting the Chromebit to the desktop and loading the same page URL in Chrome browser from the desktop. When the displays freeze we're able to see that the Chromebits are still requesting data, but the screen is frozen. The camera feeds are frozen, the video loop is frozen, but if you hook a mouse to the USB port, you can move the mouse pointer around the screen. Connecting a keyboard does nothing, you aren't able to access the Kiosk app admin login using the key commands or do anything else.

I'm attaching some logs that we've captured. In these logs, the time that the display froze is sometime around 7:20 PM on November 3rd. We can reproduce this behavior if we point a Chromebit to a test URL that we can provide, and let it run for several hours.
