Privacy mode on iOS will open 3rd party apps for sites

App Version (from "Chrome Settings > About Chrome"): 70.0.3538.75
iOS Version: 12.0.1
Device: iphone 7

Steps to reproduce: 
Open a privacy mode tab
go to news.google.com
Click a NYTimes article

Observed behavior: 
Article redirects to the NYTimes app, losing the privacy mode

Expected behavior: 
Article opens in privacy mode. NYTimes doesn't get to track who has opened links and viewed pages.
