RelaunchNotification should display remaining days/hours |
||||||||||
Issue descriptionThere should be an easy way for users to find out how much time is left before Chrome is forcibly restarted. In the absence of that, restart may be unexpected which may result in a bad UX. (Afaiu, there's a notification from time to time saying xx days left, but it's easy to lose track of that once the notification has been dismissed.)

On desktop, the dialog pops up with a final 3-minute warning.

That doesn't seem super helpful for someone that's taking a break at that time. (Or maybe it's the middle of the night anyways.)

Adding Enterprise-Triaged label assuming that this is getting taken care of. Please assign an Owner when it's clear what to do here (i.e. could be a PM who will drive UX changes if necessary).

srahim: what do you think of showing the remaining time in the app menu? in my current canary (which needs a restart), the first item in the app menu is "Update Google Chrome" with the green circle-with-an-arrow icon. what if, in the face of a pending forced relaunch, this said "Google Chrome will relaunch in ... Update now" or something like that? or perhaps the tooltip for the app menu (currently "Customize and control Google Chrome. Update is available.") could say "Customize and control Google Chrome. An update will be applied in +++.". Hmm, that doesn't convey the nature of the relaunch, but you get the idea. other thoughts? |
