[VR Browser] Transition from Daydream back to VR Browsing is janky. |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 72.0.3595.0 OS: P Device: Pixel XL 2 VRCore: 1.18.213676531 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Enter VR browsing. (2) Press the Daydream controllers Home button. (3) A Daydream screen appears (not the homescreen, see the screenshot attached). (4) Press the Daydream controller Home button again to return to the VR browser. What is the expected result? Transition should be smooth from Daydream screen to VR Browser. What happens instead? The transition from the Daydream screen back to VR browsing is janky. See video. It does not happen if in step 3, the user clicks on the Chrome icon in the Daydream screen. Only if the controller Home button is used to return.

Pressing the home button on the Daydream controller while VR Browsing actually takes the user to different screens on M70 compared with M71+. In M71+, with two clicks of the Home button, you can view the Daydream screen shown in comment #0, and return back to VR browsing. In M70, the first click takes you to a different Daydream screen (I think the Daydream Home screen; pictured in this comment.) Then consecutive clicks take you back and forth between the two Daydream screens mentioned in this bug. The home button never takes the user back to VR browsing. Entering VR Browsing by directly clicking on the Chrome icon in Daydream has a smooth transition on all versions. So it's only where the home button press takes the user back to VR browsing where this bug repros (M71+)

we think this is a GVR issue - M71 & M72 home button goes to DD Dashboard, but on M70 it goes to DDH. if you goto DD Dash, pressing Home again gets the repro (M71 & M72). suggest filing same bug in buganizer for DD team, and cc:sxp@ to see if they have any input here.
