Deprecate bootcache to allow increase in rootfs partition size |
|
Issue descriptionIt turns out the reason we have a 1.8 GB hard limit on rootfs is dm-verity (which is about 30MB) + bootcache at the end of the partition. It turns out it is only used for devices with spinning disks like parrot (the only reference is src/overlays/overlay-parrot/scripts/board_specific_setup.sh) But parrot has been EOL'ed IIRC. So we should go ahead and kill bootcache (src/platform/bootcache).

i don't think this is a blocker for issue 888744. as you said, this limit only applies to devices with bootcache active ... so other devices are free to use that partition space. we also had bootcache on butterfly for a while, but that device is also EOL now. so we're free to use the space on existing non-bootcache systems w/out deleting bootcache code. |
